By Kenzie Lewis

The 2020/2021 school year may have been online, but that didn’t stop the McMaster Energy Association from learning more about how they can take control of their energy future! Here’s a quick look back at what we’ve accomplished this year.

October Innovation in Green Infrastructure Panel: We were honoured to learn about what’s new in the field of energy infrastructure from three distinguished professionals in the industry. Allison Bennett from Hatch, Ryan Rogers from Parity Inc., and Tolu Falade from Avery Dennison shared their thoughts and answered questions on interesting innovations in energy infrastructure.

January Energy and Economic Policy Panel: In January, students from all faculties at McMaster learned about the intersection of energy and economic policy, and the impact that policies can have on sustainable energy companies. Jean-Claude LeBlanc from Celestica, Joelle Pang from ClearBlue Markets, and Rafiq Dhanji from Sustainable Burlington Hamilton all shared their expertise on the topic at this engaging panel discussion!

2021 Energy Nexus Case Competition: Throughout February and March, 12 teams across all McMaster faculties competed in the Annual Energy Nexus Case Competition, “Power, Policy & The Planet”. Click here for a full recap of this year’s case competition!

March Annual Energy Week: We were so excited to host the 2021 McMaster Energy Week, featuring panels, workshops, conferences, and more! Don’t forget to check out this full recap of Energy Week, including videos of any event you may have missed!

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend one of our events this year. It’s been such an honour to share our passion for sustainable energy with you!

Want to join us? If you’re passionate about sustainable energy, we’d love to have you join the team next year! We hope you’ll keep an eye out on our social media and our website for Executive Applications, which should be coming out before the next school year!
